For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God. The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship and by him we cry, “Abba, Father”. The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children. – Romans 8:14-16
God talks to you more than you realize. The trick is learning how to identify it and then how to respond to it. Do you ever have conversations with people or thoughts that sound something like this:
– I had a feeling that something was going on (it could be good or bad)
– I kept thinking about that/you all day but didn’t know why?
– I knew that was going to happen
When you have these thoughts/feelings, if you are anything like me then you would just dismiss them and move on. I would always think “oh it will be ok, they will call me if they need me”. Then when something would happen you would ponder back and say “man I wish I would have ____” (fill in the blank).
I have learned that God talks to people at different times/ways throughout the day. God talks to me usually right before I fall asleep or right as I am waking up in the morning. He talks to one of my good friends while she is in the shower. He has a personal relationship with everyone and no relationship is the same, He knows you better than you know yourself and He is talking to you at times when He knows you can hear Him clearly.
Lately when I get these thoughts/feelings, instead of dismissing them, I have reached out to the person in some way but I do it right away. It is so easy to do these days, call/text/social media, whatever form it may be. A simple message to say “I am not sure what you are going through but I want you to know that I am thinking about you and I am here if you need me”. The few times I have done this (as this is still something very new to me and I am still learning) I have been SHOCKED at the response. Every single time the response has been “Thank you so much, I so needed to hear this today” and with that a conversation starts to help comfort or to just listen and be there for one of God’s children.
We need to truly believe that things/thoughts/feelings happen for a reason.
– It is not a coincidence
– It is not a gut feeling
– IT IS THE HOLY SPIRIT TALKING TO YOU!!
How exciting is that?!?!?! God is speaking to you! He loves you so much and wants to have a relationship with you. You can talk back to Him and He will answer. Keep your heart and eyes fixed on Him and He will show you things you never “noticed” before.
I will warn you, He is your Father and just like our earthly parents, He does not always tell us what we want to hear, it is not always easy but it is always what we NEED to hear and it is ALWAYS worth it! Your Heavenly Father wants to bless you more than you can even imagine.
For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever you want. – Galations 5:17
– When someone is on your mind, reach out to them and let them know that you are thinking about them.
– Pray every morning, even if you don’t know what to say. Open your bible and find a scripture and pray. Then listen…
