your body is home

Well here is confession time, since my last weight loss post on July 8, 2016, things haven’t gotten any better for me in this area of my life, just being honest!  But here’s to a new day, new way of life, a new me and I am worth it.  I am taking you along my journey, make sure to follow me on Instagram because I will be posting more details as I go through the process.  I will be completely honest with my struggles, doubts, insights, motivations and best of all achievements because I will succeed, I proclaim it!!

I will be following the TLS (Transition Lifestyle System) for a customized weight loss solution specifically for me. It is a customizable, science-based program designed to fit you and your unique lifestyle. I have found that while other programs tell you what they think works; with TLS, it’s all about what works for you. We are all designed in our own special way so what works for me may not work for you and that is ok! If you want more information on TLS, please click the Weight Loss in the menu on my home page.

To get started I had to do a few things. First and foremost I had to get my mind right. Romans 12:2 tells us to renew our mind. Find the truth and have it so readily engrained into your mind and heart so that when you have struggles (and you will) you can recall that truth immediately to help you overcome any obstacle. In order for me to get my mind right I have been listening to the audible book by Lysa TerKeurst called “Made to Crave”.

Second, I had to get my meal plan set.  I got my grocery list completed because most of the time when I fail in this process it is due to failing to plan.  So make sure you PLAN!!  Don’t skip meals and always have a healthy snack on hand so that you don’t fall into the desperate temptation of driving through that all too convenient drive thru window! Sunday afternoons are usually grocery shopping and meal prep time. Those meals usually make it to Wednesday and sometimes Thursday. I plan on Wednesday evenings to prepare for the remaining days to get me to Sundays.  Make sure this planning time is a priority.  If something comes up on your designated days, don’t make excuses, get it done!  Make sure this time is written on your calendar/day planner because again if you fail to plan then you plan to fail!!

Last thing to do is to make sure you are setting a few minutes to get moving! If you are like me and I am sure most people are, you are busy and it seems like 5 minutes is very hard to come by.  But if we are completely honest with ourselves you can find plenty of time to get moving.  It does not have to be a formal, arranged workout that will impress the best, JUST MOVE!  I work in an office environment and I have an assigned schedule to be available on the phones.  I usually sit and scroll through social media during my breaks.  Starting today I choose to put my headphones in my ear, turn on music or an audio book that motivates me and take a brisk walk around the building.  During lunch instead of driving to the local Starbucks (not to eat or drink but for free Wi-Fi) I choose to walk.  I will confess I do get a free water while I am there!  My point is that you do have time to get moving, but you have to be intentional about it and remember YOU are WORTH it, so JUST DO IT!!

“Dear friend, I pray that you may enjoy good health and that all may go well with you, even as your soul is getting along well.” – 3 John 1:2 NIV
