In the Old Testament God did certain things to show the Israelites and the people that He was their God. Many times God would say “I did this so that you might know that I am the Lord your God.” like in Deuteronomy 29:6b.In the New Testament Jesus did certain things to show us that He was the Son of God, the Messiah. In Mark 5:19, He restored a demon-possessed man and told him to go home to his own people and to tell them how much the Lord has done for him and how he has had mercy on him. We also of course, have the Great Commission from Jesus in Matthew 28, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Jesus wants us to spread the gospel, teaching others His ways and how to follow Him.
We know that Satan wants to be like God, he wanted to be above God (Isaiah 14:12-14) and he is the father of lies (John 8:44).
So let’s explore when we talk, if it honors God or Satan and be honest with yourself.
If something bad is happening in your life do you spread Satan’s name by telling people that Satan is attacking you and how Satan is working in your life. Satan does not care if you spread his name in a negative or in a positive way, he just wants you to spread his name. If you continue to spread his name then he will continue to attack you, he will attack you more and he will attack you harder. Then you will continue to spread his name and he will never stop!
If something bad is happening in your life do you tell people what God is doing in your life, what God is showing you, what God is teaching you, how God is using a bad situation for something good. Do you keep your eyes, hearts, thoughts and words focused on God.
It is good to know that Satan is real and he is out there. We need to know that there are evil spirits that we are fighting and not human beings like it says in Ephesians 6:12. Just don’t tell every single person you meet walking down the hall what Satan is doing in your life every day! We need to keep the main thing the main thing and that is God.
Now I am writing this because of course Satan has attacked me and I have fallen into this trap. I am writing this out of a place of love because I want to help you from this vicious cycle. I hear Satan’s name too much among my Christian friends and we need to realize and be aware of what is happening and why.
I am not saying that you pretend everything is sunshine and rainbows and hold everything bad buried deep down. It is good to have a few wise Godly friends that you can turn to when you need to talk about those hard times in your life. They can help you work through it or just be there to listen. I know when I was going through a hard battle it was hard to see what God was doing. I felt so alone that I was mad at God. I felt so hurt and betrayed that I stopped reading the bible and stopped praying. A couple of my Christian friends, in a loving way, held me accountable. They told me that I was doing exactly what Satan wanted. He wanted me mad at God and to drive a wedge between us. Trust me, even when you first start turning to God’s word and in prayer, Satan does not let up and he pushes even harder but as you stay focused on God and stand your ground, Satan will get the hint.
Please make sure you are seeking out Godly wise advise when you do need to talk. Don’t go to a friend that has been divorced 5 times to seek out martial advise. Don’t go to your broke friend on financial advise, make sense? Always stay focused on God and how He is working in your life!
He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation. – Mark 16:15
